FPC Meet and Greet: Danny Burns, Controller

Tell us about the work you do for Fine Point.

I have joined FPC as a Controller, where I will be managing multiple different clients and providing them various levels of financial support on a month to month basis.  Anywhere from standard monthly reporting packages, to helping build out financial models to help clients better forecast the future and help them make better informed business decisions.

Tell us about your educational and professional background before you arrived at FPC.

Prior to joining FPC, I obtained my bachelor degrees in both Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.  I began my professional career in public accounting where I spent about 3 years at Baker Tilly as an auditor here at the Madison office, where I obtained my CPA license.   I spent the last year as an Advisor, working with Aprio, a company out of Atlanta, where we performed similar work with clients as we do here with FPC.

What do you like most about working at Fine Point?

What I like most about working here at Fine Point, is the people.  I actually interned here back while I was a sophomore in college over the summer and winter break, and being able to come back and see a lot of the same faces as when I was here 7 years ago has been awesome, and really speaks to Fine Point as a company and people wanting to stay here.

Any favorite business, accounting, or other books, blogs, or podcasts you like?

A podcast that I have recently started listening to within the last couple months, has been the “Cloud Accounting Podcast”.  It was recommended by an old co-worker and pertains a lot of relevant financial news specifically related to the cloud accounting world, but also other relevant financial news.

When you’re not working at FPC you…..

When I am not working at FPC, I am usually doing something active, usually golfing, working out, or making frequent trips to the dog park with my fiancé, and our 1 year old golden retriever, Charlie.
